March 31 – With offices closed, the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) has asked Michigan professional and trade associations, such as MABA, to compile member requests for Secretary of State emergency transactions supporting critical infrastructure activities. For critical agricultural and food production activities, this could include issuance of seasonal restricted CDL licenses and critical replating/registration of farm supply transport equipment. To request Secretary of State emergency transactions: 1. Download this Excel form. This was created by MABA to streamline the flow of meeting requests. 2. Fill out the information in the form. For licenses such as seasonal CDL’s, use the “Licenses” tab. The information entered should be that of the person who needs to be licensed. For other requests, use the “Title-Registration-Other” tab. We strongly encourage you to batch requests. 3. Send the form to Charla Scheidler (charla@miagbiz.org) and Chuck Lippstreu (chuck@miagbiz.org). We will forward the requests to the designated point person at the Secretary of State’s office. Contact Chuck directly if you have specific questions. 4. SOS will directly contact those requesting services to schedule the transaction. Please remind your drivers that SOS is operating under emergency circumstances, and is not able to reschedule canceled or “no-show” appointments at this time. Please do not contact the Secretary of State directly with requests, as this will likely cause delays. Because this is a new process developed in light of the emerging COVID-19 situation, we can’t provide timing estimates and it is possible some services may not be available. We will work with you to facilitate the process and we appreciate the Secretary of State’s office for helping address this issue.
