The objective of the Michigan Agri-Business Leadership Program is to identify emerging leaders in Michigan’s agribusiness industry and provide an opportunity for personal growth and professional development. The program is designed to offer information, hands-on training and ground level experiences in several critical areas regarding policy, legislation and regulatory matters. Participants will learn the “nuts and bolts” of the opportunities and challenges facing our industry, and what we need to do to continue moving forward, both politically and economically. They will also discuss issues and brief policy leaders on our industry’s perspective on these critical issues.

MDHHS Guidance on COVID-19 Testing

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has issued a new order allowing for critical infrastructure workers, with or without symptoms, to access COVID-19 testing, when available. 

Please note that media reports, and reports from MABA members, continue to indicate many testing centers across Michigan are not testing asymptomatic workers, even in light of the below order, due to lack of testing. This is a fluid situation and subject to change. We highly recommend calling ahead to testing centers and not to anticipate tests for asymptomatic workers.

April 17, 2020 — Governor Whitmer this morning issued an Executive Order extending permits for commercial applicators, private applicators, and registered applicators that were set to expire on December 31, 2019 until 60 days after the end of the declared states of emergency and disaster.

Press Release: MABA joins chorus of state, federal leaders calling for USDA assistance in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Agri-Business Association (MABA) today called on U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue to act with urgency to support agricultural producers facing serious economic hurdles as a result of the COVID-19 emergency. MABA joins other Michigan leaders and organizations that have called on the USDA to act promptly in support of Michigan agriculture at an uncertain time.
